A timeless collection with inspirations from Africa, India, Egypt, China & Persia

New Delhi, July 30, 2002: Global inspirations and rich colours mark the Studio Valaya Fall / Winter 2002 Collection that will be showcased at the Lakme India Fashion Week 2002. The show is scheduled for 9 p.m. on August 7, 2002 and will feature select ensembles from Studio Valaya, the diffusion label from the House of Valaya, which is a watered-down and more affordable version of the couture label - JJ Valaya. This show precedes the JJ Valaya Fall-Winter 2002 shows to be held in Delhi and Mumbai in September 2002, which celebrate the completion of 10 years of Valaya.

The new Collection is based on the basic principle of Valaya - “the future of the past”, with an underlying theme of ‘Modern Royalty’. The collections entwine the past with the present and bear a contemporary look for today’s man and woman. Inspired by influences from Africa, India, China, Egypt & Persia. African tribal motifs and forms ... A collection of Indian georgette’s and jacquards in bright colours with floral motifs and glitter and sequins work. Oriental Chinese styles and motifs in muted tones of bright shades with emphasis on button details. An Egyptian touch of deep shades with embroidery in pastel colours. Inspired by Persian carpets, a collection of crepes and dupion has fine resham work with antique mirrors and metallic thread. The show culminates with a contemporary collection of occasion dressing.

Commenting on the Studio Valaya Fall / Winter 2002 collection, JJ Valaya said, “ The Studio Valaya collection epitomizes the spirit of Valaya in a younger and contemporary fashion. It finds global influences and uses them in a young and spirited collection for men and women”

The Studio Valaya shoot for Fall / Winter 2002 was executed at Delhi's exclusive, museum hotel, The Imperial that celebrates the magnificence of beauty and aesthetics through its interiors. The exquisite interiors of the hotel lend a mystical aura that was in line with the theme of the new collection of ‘modern royalty’ and ‘timeless beauty’.
