India’s leading couturier, JJ Valaya will show his Fall Winter
2001-02 collection on Thursday, the 11th of October 2001 at Shangri-la
Hotel, Singapore as part of the India Week organised by the High
Commission of India in Singapore and CII. This show follows another
that was held in New Delhi recently and precedes shows in Mumbai
and Frankfurt. Over fifty couture garments spanning five all new
inspirations and divided into distinct lines for women as well as
for men will be shown on the runway.
A prominent feature of this years collection were
Swarovski crystal components - scintillating, spectacular sparklers
which have shed a new light on fashion. Swarovski crystals have
emerged as one of the most dramatic elements of couture worldwide,
redefining fashion, reflecting opulence and reinforcing glamour.
As the recently announced and first ever Swarovski brand ambassador,
JJ Valaya effectively used the medium along with various other Indian
crafts to showcase a collection that combined traditional and modern
elements with élan.
Speaking before the event, Mr. Valaya remarked,
“We shall be showing in Singapore after nearly 6 years. Needless
to say, I look forward to being a part of the India week. We hope
to showcase a line, which will not only reflect India as it is,
but will attempt to put together a modern statement of a new India.
Colours, Cuts and Craft will join hands to project Contemporary
Culture.” |
