The JJ Valaya Fall Winter 2001-02 Show

India’s leading couturier, JJ Valaya held his Fall Winter 2001-02 show on Monday, the 17th of September 2001 at Hotel Le Meridien, New Delhi. This show precedes another to be held in Mumbai shortly which will further be followed by 3 international shows to be held in Dubai, Singapore and Frankfurt. Over a hundred couture garments spanning seven all new inspirations and divided into distinct lines for women as well as for men were shown on the runway, which finally culminated in the now famous JJ Valaya signature- the Trousseaux line.

A prominent feature of this year’s collection was the use of Swarovski textile components, which were seen once again this season across all international ramps. It is JJ’s endeavor to bring in this crystalline effulgence on to Indian ramps as well through his exquisite collection this Fall-Winter. Swarovski textile components have emerged as one of the most dramatic elements of couture worldwide, redefining fashion, reflecting opulence and reinforcing glamour. As the recently announced and first ever Swarovski brand ambassador worldwide, JJ Valaya effectively used the medium along with various other Indian crafts to showcase a collection that combined traditional and modern elements with élan. JJ Valaya will work extensively with the company for the next 3 years to promote the versatility of textile components on local couture.

The show was well attended by prominent personalities - Ajatshatru & Ritu Singh of Kashmir, Siddharth Basu, Dilip Cherian, Bim Bissel, Mani Mann, Shamshad Hussain, Maharani Gita Devi of Kapurthala, Austrian Ambassador Herbert Traxl, to name a few. From the fashion fraternity, Rohit Bal, Reena Dhaka, Geetanjali Kashyap, Rajesh Pratap Singh were to be seen.
