Launch of Studio Valaya store at Gurgaon

New Delhi, January 2005: After a successful launch in Dubai in November 2004 and Chennai earlier this month, Studio Valaya, the diffusion label from the House of Valaya, now enters Gurgaon with the opening of an exclusive store. Located in Galaxy Mall, on the National Highway 8, this dedicated 1,500 sq ft store manages to convey both the philosophy of the designer and the creative energy that goes into developing a collection. The Galaxy mall is being developed as 'the' fashion mall of Gurgaon and will house some of India's finest fashion labels on an entire floor, besides a chic hotel, NCR/Delhi's largest bookstore and several high-end lifestyle brands on the other floors.

The STUDIO VALAYA line conjures up images of a fusion look treated in a contemporary individual style. It is the diffusion or bridge label, which is essentially a toned down and more affordable version of the couture label - 'JJ Valaya'. The line has a cleaner yet sophisticated look and is for men and women who believe in timeless elegance with a contemporary styling. The designer's passion for color, fabric and surface ornamentation is reflected in every piece. The store will showcase womenswear, menswear and accessories.

The 2005 Inspirations
The VALAYA look for 2005 relates to a multi-cultural appeal:

w SHAMIANA - What severe contradictions. Shamianas were used by the Mughals in their most splendid avatars and yet they now shelter the Homeless. A tribute to the craft of Appliqué… fine resham and pure elegance.

w FROM DAWN TO DECADENCE - The Great Roman Empire and its unfortunate journey from glory to decadence and debauchery. Pastel tones with custom printing, antique moquaish and fine thread work….chiffons, georgettes and organza….scraggy edges and crystal strands.
